Care Farming Network is teaming up with Adults Creating Residential Employment Solutions (ACRES) Project<\/a> for a Care Farm Tour & Meet Up. Whether you\u2019re an experienced care farmer, just getting started, or a community member interested in learning about care farming, we hope you\u2019ll join us!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This is an opportunity to connect, share ideas and inspiration, and see firsthand how ACRES Project uses aquaponics, hydroponics, and traditional growing methods to\u00a0 produce sustainable food and bridge gaps in services. We’ll learn about the employment opportunities, job skills training, and community integration ACRES Project provides for individuals with autism and other disabilities.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the tour, stay for a potluck and informal conversation on care farming practices, organizational needs, and how we can support one another. ACRES participants will share food they\u2019ve prepared and join us for the meal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please plan to arrive between 10:30 and 11:00 a.m.  The farm tour starts at 11:00 a.m. at the registration table. Following the tour, stay for a potluck meal and conversation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

About ACRES Project:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

ACRES Project<\/a> provides social, educational, and vocational programming for neurodivergent participants. ACRES\u2019 aquaponics program combines fish and plant cultivation to offer employment opportunities to community members. Participants gain valuable skills while contributing to local food production and sustainability. ACRES Project is an approved service provider through Pennsylvania’s Office of Vocational Rehabilitation (OVR).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This Care Farming Tour & Meetup is funded by a SARE Northeast grant<\/a>, the goal of which is to increase employment and meaningful work opportunities for people with I\/DD on farms. We hope that care farmers will feel more connected and supported as we build an infrastructure that includes mentoring, farm tours, and training opportunities for those involved in this work. <\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n
